Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway needs to you know: Don't rush to judge Catwoman's costume in "The Dark Knight Rises." Apparently, we haven't seen a thing when it comes to the form-fitting costume.
Friday's snapshot of Hathaway in character as the feline alter-ego of Selina Kyle got a lukewarm reception for, well, its lukewarm aesthetics. Annie's not having that.
Photos: Catwoman -- and her costumes -- through the years
"I was not going to admit it," Hathaway told MTV News about the photo's accuracy, as she's sworn to secrecy in regard to Christopher Nolan's film (the pic is legit, FYI, revealed on the film's official site).
"What I am happy to say is, if you didn't like the photo, you only see about a tenth of what that suit can do," she promised. "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste."
We like her nonchalance in regards to the suit reaction, but quite frankly we like the promise that the suit has more, and does more. Like perhaps lend some of the feminine energy from Michelle Pfieffer's heyday -- or at least some shredded leather, like in Halle Berry's go-round.
At this point we'd settle for something that includes maybe a change purse, as long is it is more exciting. We'll have to wait until closer to summer 2012, when "The Dark Knight Rises" hits theaters.http://www.esquire.com/cm/esquire/images/Mn/esq-anne-hathaway-catwoman-012411-lg.jpghttp://www.shockya.com/news/wp-content/uploads/anne-hathaway-catwoman-dark-knight-rises1.jpghttp://img.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/anne-hathaway-catwoman-role__oPt.jpghttps://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv-2j8ENTcyURnQlcszqwGFgVuWUoVsLwgaeAt9xUBPI7uMiJcDLsEUMwze5ElPRUJD5XwMmSm6zn_a-PzV-XB4NQ21ilw4CsGPjkg2nUGY_bl1hBOL729fZiwDlMv0Fz-jswHaN0Ln1uV/s640/anne+hathaway+05WONDERFUL.jpg

Batman bosses have kept fans guessing with how Anne Hathaway is going to portray Catwoman in upcoming movie The Dark Knight Rises.
And now, with the first official photo of the actress in character, it seems Catwoman is going to be tougher than ever in the sequel.
While Hathaway's outfit can't really be seen, it appears the 28-year-old actress is wearing a black leather catsuit, with a zip up the front, teamed with a pair of black goggles and lashings of red lipstick.

Very little information has been revealed about the storyline of the new film, in which Hathaway stars as Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman.

However, a source recently told Hollywoodlife.com of Anne's Catwoman costume: 'Anne's outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies.
Previous incarnations: Halle Berry as Catwoman in the 2004 film and Michelle Pfeiffer in the role in 1992 movie Batman Returns

'She will definitely be wearing the goggles, and it's going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman costumes. She's going to look more like a robber.'

Hathaway was yesterday spotted on the set of the new film, showing off her legs in a pair of tiny black shorts.

Anne, who was wearing heavy make-up, chatted with a member of the production staff while she stretched her legs during a spot of down time.

It looks like the Oscars hostess has been working hard to get in shape for the final part of Christopher Nolan's hit trilogy.
A source told the Mail: 'Anne is working out five days a week. She's taking it very seriously and wants her body in tip-top condition.
'Secretly she hopes to upstage Halle Berry, who last played Catwoman. She's doing dance classes, weight-training and cardio - she wants to be the sexiest Catwoman ever.'

And it has paid off as she looked lithe and supple, with not a single trace of fat on show as she enjoyed the fresh air in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today.
But she was not the only glamorous lady strutting her stuff during another day of hectic shooting.
Marion Cotillard was also looking splendid, although unfortunately she was more covered up in a costume that made up of trousers and wine-coloured jacket.
She is playing Miranda Tate in the film, an ally of Bruce Wayne's who works on the board of his company.

Although the ladies on set provided the glamour, it was the stunt doubles who generated the excitement.
One was seen shooting down a set of stairs in a exotically-designed motorbike during one of the more thrilling moments of the day.

In yet another teaser of the highly anticipated 'The Dark Knight Rises,' photos have just been released of Anne Hathaway’s sexy Batwoman costume. She’s set to play both Selina Kyle and Catwoman, and the picture of her has gotten confused reactions.
First off, she's not wearing feline ears or a half-mask, like her predecessor Halle Berry did; instead, she's donned a particularly-intenselooking pair of goggles and a ponytail. Plus, she's riding the Batpod, something that's also unusual.
The actress has remained mum as to secrets on her role, joking that she "signed a blood oath," to stay silent until the release. The film is currently being filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is set to be released next summer.

Hathaway has a long line of sexy Catwomen to live up to: Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriwether, Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry all had the roles before her, .
It seems as though eager audiences will just have to wait a bit longer in hopes that director Christopher Nolan will release some more previews of that movie that Hathaway says is "going to be really good."
According to CinemaBlend via Hollywood Life, Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume from “The Dark Knight Rises” will not just be fetish fuel.
A source close to the film said that her costume will feature the iconic goggles the character wears in the comic book. “Anne’s outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies,” said the source. “She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it’s going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes. She’s going to look more like a robber.”
If you’re concerned about her just looking like a female robber, don’t be too alarmed. “[F]an boys shouldn’t worry,” said the source. “This costume is going to be form-fitting enough to make Anne look smoking hot.”
Reportedly, Hathaway has been working out around the clock to get in shape for the role, so it’ll be very interesting to see how she’ll look in the costume once everything comes together. It’ll also be interesting to see how she interacts with Christian Bale’s Batman once she’s on screen.
How do you feel about Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman? Are you excited to see the costume in real life? Sound off in the comments section below. “The Dark Knight Rises” will be in theaters July 20, 2012.

Anne Hathaway as Catwom

Look, we want to see Anne Hathaway in a cat suit as much as the next guys — she's a wonderful, beautiful actress, and the Catwoman getup is second only to the Princess Leia bikini in the fantasy costume hall of fame. But we're afraid this is going to turn out to be one of those things that's better in theory, like chocolate beer, or sex on a beach, or Halle Berry in a cat suit.

First off, Hathaway's got big — call 'em iconic — shoes to fill, namely Michelle Pfeiffer's kitten heels. And unlike Michelle Pfeiffer, who could star in a YouTube series if she cared to exist in this century, there's nothing particularly feline about Hathaway — not in the face or the gait or the intonation. Her intonation, as you will learn at the Oscars next month, is less villainous than vapid, more charming than disarming. And though she's proven her chops in a variety of genres (Anne Hathaway is a pharmaceutical rom-com pro if there ever one), there's this kind of lovable goofiness to her that's more doglike than catlike. And we mean that in the kindest possible way.

But the real problem with this — because this is kind of a big deal — is the fantasy thing. Christopher Nolan, who'll be directing Hathaway in the third installment of his Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises, can't do sexy female characters, which Catwoman sorta has to be. His stories are cerebral parables about men and their choices. Women in his films tend to be butch or asexual (respectively, Hillary Swank in Insomnia and Ellen Paige in Inception). Nominally sexy characters, like Marion Cotillard in Inception or Scarlett Johansson in The Prestige, are treated almost as afterthoughts, plot necessities, or concessions to male viewers. They're gorgeous, but they're buttoned-up. Practically Victorian. You don't button up Scarlett Johansson, man.

Maybe we're thinking about this all wrong. Three years ago, everyone pitied Heath Ledger for having to don Jack Nicholson's purple mantle. We would have called you nuts if you told us his Joker would become the definitive one. So, yeah, it's possible that Nolan will update and outdo Tim Burton once more. One thing's for sure: he'll again find a way to twist a ludicrous comic-book concept — a woman dresses like a drunk girl on Halloween to fight crime — into a relevant, piercing metaphor. A metaphor for what, though? How about for our unmeetable expectations when it comes to a catsuit? How about that?

Anne Hathaway has one slinky catsuit to fill.
A new shot of Hathaway in her Catwoman outfit in next year's "The Dark Knight Rises" has been released -- and some are questioning if she has the sex appeal of yesteryear's Catwomen.
SODAHEAD SLIDESHOW: Who is the sexiest Catwoman ever?

Pfeiffer had the sexy part down in 1992's "Batman Returns," even scoring a "Most Desirable Female" nod at the MTV Movie Awards.
And while Berry won a dreaded Razzie Award for the critically panned 2004 movie "Catwoman," she definitely filled out that suit.
From Hathaway to Berry to former Miss America Lee Meriwether, let us know: Who is the sexiest Catwoman ever?

Anne Hathaway stars as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises.'
Meow! "The Dark Knight Rises" has released the first photo of the its Catwoman.

And fan reaction has been mixed towards Anne Hathaway's look as the famous Bat-villain cat burglar.

A number of commentators are saying that the costume choice is in line with director Christopher Nolan's tone for the films, which take a grittier, more realistic approach to the "Batman" universe.

That doesn't mean that others aren't unhappy with the choices being made.

While it seems that this Catwoman is more of a pull-no-punches, physical variety, fans are disappointed at the lack of anything ... well, cat-like, about the costume.

"Her goggles have slightly pointed ends, which may be -- maybe -- supposed to be vaguely Catwoman-ish or something," posts Rob Bricken of Nerd Blog Topless Robot. "But...well...I'm not feeling it."

Both the promotional shot and the production photo show Hathaway on the Batpod, in the latter driving down the court-house steps where a fight between Batman and Bane is meant to happen, according to production photos released last week.

Hathaway drew criticism before she was even seen in-costume.

The internet has buzzed back and forth over whether or not Hathaway is the right choice for portraying Catwoman.

Prior to the announcement of her casting, rumors were rampant that the frontrunners were Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox.

Julie Newmar, who was the first to play Catwoman on screen in the '60's TV show, promoted Jolie, saying she "would own the part."

While Hathaway is being shot down pretty early, it was the same a few years ago when it was announced that Heath Ledger would be the Joker in "The Dark Knight."

His original, frenetic take on the character proved many critics wrong, earning him a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

Anne HathawayTalk about Anne Hathaway's Relationship with Raffaello Follieri. In 2004, Anne Hathaway began a relationship with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri.

During their relationship, Anne Hathaway took part in the development of the charitable Follieri Foundation, serving as a financial donor as well as a member of the foundation's board of directors until 2007. A Manhattan-based charity founded in 2003 focusing on programs such as providing vaccinations for children in Third World nations, the organization had come under investigation in June 2008 by the IRS, for failing to file tax papers required from non-profit organizations. Citing the fear that this and other ongoing legal issues involving Follieri would become detrimental to her acting career, Hathaway ended her relationship with him in mid-June 2008.

Raffaello Follieri was arrested in June 2008 on fraud charges for allegedly fleecing investors out of millions of dollars in a scheme in which Raffaello Follieri posed as the Vatican's point man on real estate investing. It was reported that the FBI confiscated Anne Hathaway's private journals from Follieri's New York City apartment as part of their ongoing investigation into Follieri's activities; however, Anne Hathaway was not charged with any crime.

On October 23, 2008, after earlier pleading guilty, Raffaello Follieri was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

In the October 2008 issue of W Magazine, Anne Hathaway spoke for the first time of the break-up and Raffaello Follieri's subsequent arrest. She related that she "spent a week in shock" after Follieri's arrest, and credited the kindness of friends for her ability to keep working during such difficult times. That same month, during her turn as host of Saturday Night Live, Anne Hathaway joked about the experience in her opening monologue.
